Anyone tired of this? As a country we fuel the crime of the world due to our insatiable desire to escape reality. When was it so hard for kids to manage the difficulties of life? Years ago, there was grinding real pi edgy, starvation, death of parents due to what are now preventable diseases. Yet our children have so much free time and lack of fortitude that they need to find a fix for life’s troubles in a pill? The idea an emergency department should be where someone who has lied, manipulated, made a million bad decisions lands is absurd. She lied, she used, she squandered her whole life. There are people who are desperately ill through no fault of their own. The drugs that people die from withdrawal from are alcohol and benzos. Being violently nauseous after bringing calamity on yourself is the price that is paid for a lifetime of terrible decisions.

Do we as a country really not believe there are so horrific painful grueling consequences for choices? Do we really let our children develop little ability to face reality? Do we think the call to action is more “help” when it should be why such a wealthy country cause violence to propagate in South and Central America because we can’t cope?

I feel terrible for the anguish and sorrow these families feel but as the child of very little money, almost no opportunity, domestic violence and being a minority, I say one needs to dig deep. If you have little self esteem, ask yourself why and fix it. Don’t think people will coddle you when you tearfully say that someone made you a drug add to by giving you a prescription for Vicodin.
